Bach Invention 2

The first and main subject lasts 2 bars (and some could say and 2 beats) consisting on phrases that I seem fit to join in groups of 5, except for the last beat of the second bar, just before the trill. As the left hand introduces itself with the main subject, the right hand proceeds to the countersubject, which consists of quavers going down. At bar 5, the right hand starts modulating, and while it takes 6 bars for the right hand to finish with this 3rd section, it takes 4 to the left, being interrupted to start the main subject transposed to the dominant, while the right hand plays around for 2 bars with phrases that aren't repeated later. On bar 13 the right hand, this time the roles inverted it follows the LH into g minor and imitating the LH gets interrupted, but instead of something new, it seems to skip a whole beat, with a slightly modified version of bars 10 RH, and 19 Lh, in C minor and G minor respectively. While this happens, the LH repeats the motif on bars 8 RH and 18 LH, in C minor and F major respectively, imitated then by the RH back in the tonic while the LH goes down a scale to fall in C, at bar 23 where the second subject arises at the same time as the 1st on the RHG. By a connecting scale and the upper voice following it's natural direction the roles are now once again inverted when the main theme appears for the last time in the left hand, and resolves in C.

Polonaise Eroica Op. 40 in A major, Chopin

Sort of a mental map of the structure of this Polonaise that I'm revisiting, did it on Photoshop since I didn't want to type here a long boring text. Each color represents a section and each number the number of bars, except the grey ones which are the repetitions.

Chopin Waltz in B minor

Experimenting with repeated notes groups in bars 13-15:

First I played F#-F#-C#-D-A#-B-A-G for a few minutes, with fingers 1-5-2-4-2-4-3-2, repeated it over and over through different octaves at different speeds and various rhythms.

Then C#-D-A#-B-A-G-B-C# with fingers 2-4-2-4-3-2-1-2 repeating the same procedure as above.

Then A#-B-A-G-B-C#-D-E with 2-4-3-2-1-2-3-4.

Letting a short break between each group, I did: A-G-B-C#-D-E-G-F# with 3-2-1-2-3-4-5-4

This netx group I practiced it more, first B-C#-D-E-G-F#-B-D, with 1-2-3-4-5-4-1-4, then I did in groups of 2, a high number of repetitions of each at high speed: B-C#, C#-D, D-E, E-G, G-F#, F#-B, B-D. Short break, and groups of three: B-C#-D, C#-D-E, D-E-G, E-G-F#, G-F#-B, F#-B-D. Groups of four, five, six and seven in the same manner and finally that whole 8 notes group a few times.

Now I'll keep going with the remaining notes, that is:
D-E-G-F#-B-D-C#-F# and the final B, with fingers: 3-4-5-4-1-4-3-1-4. Same method as above.

-----

Done with the whole passage, I must repeat all of it exactly the same way tomorrow.

The Little Drummer Boy

Such is the title of a film made by Bernstein about Mahler, I should try to get this somehow.

Bach Invention No. 13

The piece consists of 25 measures and 301 notes on the right hand, and 263 on the left, making it a total of 564 notes, of which 1 is a half note, 2 are quarter notes, 152 are quavers and 409 ace semiquavers.

Paisiello Variations

Just for fun, I'm going to make a MIDI file with all the variations at the same time. I made 2 already and sounded not so bad, but not so sure about the minor variation... I'd also like to try to orchestrate them, too bad the MIDI orchestra sound isn't good at all.

La Habanera Lyrics

L'amour est un oiseau rebelle
Que nul ne peut apprivoiser,
Et c'est bien in vain qu'on l'appelle
S'il lui convient de refuser.

-----
Love is a rebellious bird
that nobody can tame,
and you call him quite in vain
if it suits him not to come.

Nothing helps, neither threat nor prayer.
One man talks well, the other's mum;
it's the other one I prefer.
He's silent but i like his looks

Love! Love! Love! Love!

Love is a gypsy's child,
it has never, ever, known a law;
love me not, then I love you;
if I love you, you'd best beware!

The bird you thought you had caught,
beat its wings and flew away...
Love stays away, you wait and wait;
when least expected, there it is!

All around you so swift, so swift,
it comes, it goes and then returns...
You think you hold it fast, it flees.
You think you're free, it holds you fast.

Love! Love! Love! Love!

Love is a gypsy's child,
it has never, ever, known a law;
love me not, then I love you;
if I love you, you'd best beware!
